About Jenni
I’ve spent my career on the school side of the table. Now I sit beside families.
Hi, I’m Jenni. I’m a former special education teacher and teacher consultant, and I help Michigan families understand their child’s rights and build IEP and 504 plans that truly fit.

My story
I spent 17 years in special education as a classroom teacher and teacher consultant. I wrote and carried out IEPs and accommodation plans, sat in countless meetings, and saw firsthand what actually helps a child succeed day to day.
For the next 8 years, I was a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Facilitator for a large district. I worked with teachers and administrators to build support systems in their classrooms and buildings so they could meet the different needs of all students.
That work showed me how schools make decisions about supports: what the law requires, how plans get written, and where things can fall through the cracks. It also showed me how overwhelming the process can feel for parents sitting across the table.
Light the Way is how I put that experience to work for families. I listen first, explain your rights in plain language, and help you walk into meetings prepared and calm. My goal is never to make things harder with your child’s school. It’s to help everyone reach a plan that works for your child.
What I bring to your table
- An insider’s understanding of how IEPs and 504 plans are written, carried out, and reviewed
- Knowledge of Section 504, IDEA, and Michigan special education rules, explained in plain language
- Experience building tiered supports with teachers and administrators across a large district
- A calm, collaborative approach that keeps the focus on your child
Let’s light the way together.
Start with a free consultation. Tell me about your child, and we’ll talk through where things stand and what comes next.
